Every visit leaves some trace. This page says which traces Raw.Space keeps and where they are held.
1. Presence
Raw.Space does not track who you are. It uses no tracking cookies, pixels or fingerprinting, and builds no profile of you. Like any website, its server receives your IP address with each request and keeps it in access logs for up to two months, for security. Nothing else about you is collected unless you sign up for the letters.
2. Trails you create
As you wander, a record of your path is kept in your own browser, to help you retrace it. It stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab. One piece, Dwell, also remembers in your browser where you stopped, until you clear your browser’s data for the site. Raw.Space never sees either.
3. Letters you choose to receive
If you sign up for Unfoldings, Raw.Space keeps your email address, the language you signed up in and the date you confirmed, and nothing else. They are stored on Raw.Space’s own server in London and used only to send the letters. An address that is never confirmed is never stored: the confirmation link carries it, and the link stops working after 48 hours.
The letters go out through Raw.Space’s Google Workspace mail account, which keeps a copy of each letter sent until it is deleted, as any mail account does. They carry no tracking: Raw.Space does not know whether you open them or which links you follow. Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address from the list at once; copies in the server’s weekly backups are gone within two months.
4. What Raw.Space does not use
- No advertising networks
- No behavioural profiling
- No analytics or tracking scripts
- No social media widgets
